Woody Allen doesn’t know writer’s block. He is constantly writing movies and produces about one a year. I have found myself still interested in his work, primarily how he tries to square the spirit of the times with his own interior world that belongs to the last century.
My top three favourite films of his are Broadway Danny Rose, Crimes and Misdemeanours and, strangely enough, Interiors. I think it’s a lovely film, very minor key, but filled with very interesting small moves inside big moods. The insights about the artist and the meaning of the artistic life are compelling. And worth remembering well.
